First PPIAC meeting of 2024 will include talk on ethics for investigators

Dean Beers, owner of Associates in Forensic Investigations, will speak on ethics surrounding investigations into deaths and serious bodily injury at the first board and general meeting of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado for 2024.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 2851 S. Parker Road (Tower 1), Aurora. The meeting will begin at 4.30 pm.

The talk is titled Recurrent Ethical Perils and Effective Pearls. Dean will cover common issues that confront investigators including:

  • Questioned integrity for a quick buck will ruin your reputation – and ours.
  • Attorneys, businesses, media, and the public are watching.
  • Understanding what conflict of interest really means – beyond the case.
  • Know who your client is. Know your capabilities. Know what the case requires.
  • The importance of vetting clients – and cases.
  • It must be legal. It must be ethical. It must be BOTH.

Dean and his wife Karen founded their agency in 1987. From their experience as deputy coroners / investigators and autopsy assistants, they specialize in death and serious bodily injury legal investigations and medicolegal expert consultations.

Dean is a certified legal investigator, and both he and Karen are both certified forensic death investigators and certified criminal defense investigators specializing in all personal injury, negligence and death investigations for civil and criminal litigation. Dean has testified as an expert and they both consult nationwide in criminal defense homicide and civil equivocal death investigations.

“As a certified legal investigator, I am very passionate about legal and medicolegal investigations and working with my clients to provide the best information and tools,” he says.

Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado is a non-profit organization that provide investigators with the tools needed for success. This includes industry related education and training as well as being a strong advocate for investigators at the legislative level.

Investigators interested in attending the meeting should RSVP to rsvp@ppiac.org
