As a nearly 27-year veteran of the New Jersey State Police, with a background and skills in investigations, special operations and military training, the new co-owner and co-publisher of Professional Investigators Magazine is ready to lead the publication into its next chapter.
Dr. Richard Rosell retired from the Town of Indian River Shores as the chief of police in May 2023. Prior to this, he was the director of public safety for the Town of Dover, N.J. and for the Township of Springfield, N.J. He has experience in managing police, fire, and EMS services, along with training, policymaking, homeland security, security management, and administrative experience.
“Among the positions he held in the State Police include advisor to the superintendent of state police, strategic initiatives officer, regional field operations commander, special operations bureau chief, emergency management bureau chief, Hurricane Katrina task force commander, station commander, S.W.A.T. supervisor, internal affairs staff officer, traffic analyst, traffic grant coordinator, station detective, drug interdiction task force supervisor, expert witness, and undercover operative,” says PI Magazine.
In his new role overseeing PI Magazine, which he took on earlier this year, Dr. Rosell is taking the co-lead in its first-ever Investigative Conference and Symposium, celebrating women in professional investigations.
PI Magazine was founded 1988 and says its committed to educating and helping professional investigators become more skilled and successful in their trade through training, information and advice.
Rosell, a now Florida-based former United States Marine and New Jersey Army National Guardsman, holds a private investigator license in Florida and currently owns a consulting company, providing expert witness testimony and consulting. He has a doctorate of Letters from Drew University and has a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in homeland defense and security.
