Well-known Colorado private investigator Dean Beers is recovering at home after undergoing emergency heart surgery.
“Dean is home and ready to start the healing process,” says Andrea Orozco, former president for the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado (PPIAC).
Beers last week underwent triple bypass surgery after suffering a heart attack while visiting family in Nebraska.
Orozco says those who know Beers, know him not only for his robust personality and hearty laugh, but also for his never wavering support for the PI profession.
“Dean and his wife Karen have always been staunch supporters to associations and investigators nationwide, always giving of themselves selflessly to help those around them.”
Beers and his wife founded their agency, Associates in Forensic Investigations, in 1987. From their experience as deputy coroners, investigators and autopsy assistants, they specialize in death and serious bodily injury legal investigations and medicolegal expert consultations.
Beers has testified as an expert witness and he and his wife consult nationwide in criminal defense homicide and civil equivocal death investigations.
“As a certified legal investigator, I am very passionate about legal and medicolegal investigations and working with my clients to provide the best information and tools,” he says on his company website.
In January, Beers spoke on ethics surrounding investigations into deaths and serious bodily injury at the first board and general meeting of the PPIAC for 2024.
To help Beers get through this difficult time, a GoFundMe page has been set up and has already raised more than $9,000.
